The president of the Russian Football Union, Aleksandr Dyukov, emphasized that there is no point in introducing a salary cap for the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In his opinion, such a restriction would make the league uncompetitive. Dyukov also stated that he has not held any discussions on this matter with the Russian Minister of Sports, Mikhail Degtyaryov.
If a salary cap is introduced, players might move to other leagues where they can compete, which would lead to a decline in the overall level of the league.
He also noted that a salary cap works effectively only in closed leagues, such as hockey, where such a system exists. In football, if any championship introduces a salary cap, it will immediately lose in competition with other championships of equal level.
Therefore, it is not advisable to impose salary restrictions in the Russian Premier League.
