In the Milan derby of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, after 'Inter' lost heavily (0:3) to their rivals 'Milan', head coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts.
“We sincerely apologize to all our fans for this defeat. Of course, we are very disappointed with today’s result. 'Milan' has once again proven that they deserve respect with today’s victory. After the first half, our team should have scored from the chances we created, but that didn’t happen and our spirits were crushed,” Inzaghi said.
According to him, the failure in the second half played a crucial role: “In the second half, we conceded a goal from a corner kick, which negatively affected our team’s morale. After that, our game slowed down significantly. To be honest, we haven’t gotten used to losing in consecutive matches. Therefore, we need to analyze these two defeats seriously,” the coach emphasized.
He also commented on the previous match: “We shouldn’t have lost against 'Bologna' in the last round either. However, today we didn’t come out with sufficient physical and mental preparation against our opponent in the second half. If De Vrij's goal had been counted, perhaps we could have changed the game. But we must acknowledge the strength of 'Milan', which has posed difficulties for us in the last five derbies this season,” Simone Inzaghi added.
It is worth noting that the first match between the teams ended in a 1:1 draw. However, based on the results of the two matches, the luck to reach the final fell to the 'rossoneri'. In the decisive final match of the Coppa Italia, the 'Milan' team will face the winner of the pair 'Bologna' - 'Empoli'. The final match is highly anticipated by fans.
