Former Russian national team player Aleksandr Samedov shared his thoughts on the situation surrounding the national team. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to him, the next gathering is planned to take place in about five and a half weeks, but opponents for the friendly matches have not yet been officially announced. This was reported by euro-football.ru.

According to Samedov, Russia may play against some of Europe's leading national teams in the near future. At the same time, he does not rule out the possibility of a match against one of the strong Latin American national teams in 2026.

This opinion was cited by the Metaratings publication. It is known that currently the Russian national team is only playing friendly matches.

The reason for this is the sanctions imposed on the Russian Football Union by UEFA and FIFA about four years ago. These restrictions prevent Russia from participating in official competitions.

The Russian national team last played an official match in November 2021. Therefore, in the current situation, they continue their activities internationally only through friendly matches.
