In a dangerous situation inside the penalty area, Ludovic Ajor finished the attack with a precise shot, putting his team ahead — 1:0. Shortly after, Ajor had another serious chance, but this time his shot passed close to the goalpost.
In the 29th minute, Ajor scored his second goal by heading the ball into the net from a cross by Hugo Manietti — 2:0. Marseille's attacks ended fruitlessly in the first half.
In the second half, the team created their first serious opportunity: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang took a free shot but failed to find the net. In the final minutes, Mason Greenwood was fouled in the penalty area and a penalty was awarded.
