In the central match of the 35th round of the Spanish championship, the "Real Madrid" team faced their eternal rival "Barcelona." In a dramatic match held at "Camp Nou," the Madrid team quickly gained a significant advantage, managing to score twice in the opponent's goal within the first 14 minutes. However, due to the excellent team play of the Catalans during the match, the "royal club" lost their lead and suffered a painful defeat with a score of 3:4.
After this victory, the Catalans' dominance on the path to the championship was further strengthened, allowing them to pull ahead of "Real" by seven points. Thus, it became clear that "Barcelona" would effectively snatch the championship from their principled rival.
In the post-match press conference, "Real" head coach Carlo Ancelotti specifically highlighted the main factor that led to his team's defeat – serious defensive errors:
“We needed to defend better in today's match. More specifically, in such an important and intense game, mistakes in the defensive line are unacceptable. Unfortunately, in this match, our defensive errors were numerous and evident. We gave our opponent very favorable opportunities during the episodes in which they scored, and as a result, we lost control of the situation,” Ancelotti said.
Additionally, despite the outstanding performance of "Real" French star Kylian Mbappe, who recorded a hat-trick in this match, the team's inability to secure a victory further disappointed the Madrid players.
It should be noted that the Madrid club's management has reached a final decision to terminate the collaboration with Carlo Ancelotti before the end of the season. According to Spanish and German media, Ancelotti's position is currently expected to be taken over by Spanish specialist Xabi Alonso, who is successfully managing "Bayer."
This, in turn, has increased fans' interest in how "Real" will perform in the new season and what changes will occur in the squad.
