Two football players in Turkey may be imprisoned due to a betting scandal

In Turkey, football players from the Galatasaray and Fenerbahce clubs are at risk of imprisonment due to a serious dispute related to betting. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by euro-football.ru. The matter concerns Galatasaray player Metehan Baltadji and Fenerbahce captain Mert Hakan Yandash.
According to information, Metehan Baltadji may face up to 13 years, and Mert Hakan Yandash up to 17 years of imprisonment. According to the Sabah newspaper, Baltadji placed bets on Galatasaray matches at least twice.
In these matches, he did not play in the starting lineup but was included in the team roster. This theoretically created the possibility of influencing the match outcome.
According to Turkish law, professional football players are required to officially declare their intention to participate in bookmaker activities. However, Baltadji did not comply with this requirement.
This situation may negatively affect the players' careers and lead to serious legal consequences.
