FIFA closely monitors the US and Iran conflict

Sports00:05, 01-03-2026

Following the start of a military operation by the United States on Iranian territory, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström commented on the situation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was reported by the "Euro-football.ru" publication. According to Grafström, he read the news this morning like everyone else, and the issue was discussed at an internal FIFA meeting.

However, the organization is not rushing to provide a detailed statement on the matter at this time. He emphasized that FIFA is closely monitoring developments worldwide.

Notably, the FIFA World Cup will be held this summer, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The presence of the Iranian national team among the teams qualified for the final stage complicates the situation further.

This situation is attracting significant attention in both political and sports circles ahead of the championship. Additionally, the current world champion is the Argentina national team.

The "Albiceleste" team will compete this summer to defend their title. These events are expected to provoke serious discussions both in the football world and on the international stage.
