Two football players in Turkey may be imprisoned due to betting

Two football players playing for Galatasaray and Fenerbahce in Turkey may face imprisonment due to violations related to betting. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information is provided by euro-football.ru. It concerns Galatasaray player Metehan Baltadji and Fenerbahce captain Mert Hakan Yandash.
According to reports, Baltadji may face up to 13 years, and Yandash up to 17 years of imprisonment. According to the Sabah newspaper, Metehan Baltadji placed bets on Galatasaray matches at least twice.
Although he did not play in the starting lineup in these matches, he was registered in the team roster. This suggests that he may have indirectly influenced the match results.
According to Turkish law, professional athletes are required to openly disclose their status to betting organizations. However, Baltadji did not comply with this requirement.
This situation has led to the footballer being accused of legal violations. At the same time, details regarding Yandash's case are also being investigated.
This incident has once again brought the relationship between sports and betting in Turkey into the spotlight.
