Laporta is planning to erect a statue for Messi and organize a farewell match

Joan Laporta, president of the "Barcelona" football club, shared his thoughts on the events surrounding the team. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, he spoke about his plans related to the club legend Lionel Messi. According to Laporta, the Catalans plan to install a statue for the Argentine star, considered the greatest footballer in the team's history.
After the new stadium is completed, a special farewell match for Messi is also planned. This initiative is sure to be warmly welcomed by the club's fans, as Messi's name is directly linked to "Barcelona's" history.
During the conversation, the main topic was the team's former head coach Xavi Hernandez. Laporta sharply responded to Xavi's resignation and his critical remarks about his work at the club.
According to him, Xavi was unable to balance professional and personal life and doubted the team's competitiveness against "Real Madrid." Xavi's demands to strengthen the squad and his pessimistic views regarding the club's capabilities caused serious dissatisfaction among the management.
For this reason, Laporta stated that he was forced to part ways with the coach. While criticizing Xavi's results during his tenure, Laporta emphasized the changes under the new coach Hans-Dieter Flick.
In his opinion, players who suffered defeats under Xavi are now showing themselves and achieving victories in Flick's system. The president stressed that making tough decisions is his duty and that he always prioritizes the club's interests.
Xavi's accusations against the management for not strengthening the squad and revealing details of his resignation further complicated the situation within the club. In the end, Laporta did not hide his hope for "Barcelona's" future.
According to him, the team is on the right path, and the play under Flick is warmly received by the fans. The conflict related to Xavi will find its place in the club's history, but the current main goal is to complete the new stadium project and lead the team back to the pinnacle of European football.
