Infantino: The World Cup will be held despite the geopolitical situation

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, commenting on the upcoming major football tournament, emphasized that the World Cup being prepared for 2026 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada will be a grand global celebration. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Although the current geopolitical situation, particularly military conflicts in the Middle East and tensions between the United States and Iran, has raised certain concerns within the football world, the organization's leader did not consider these factors to be major issues. In his view, the upcoming tournament will remain a significant social event for society rather than just ordinary sports competition and will serve to strengthen friendship among all nations.
The FIFA chief specifically highlighted that the level of interest in tickets is unprecedented in history. To date, more than 500 million ticket requests have been received, a figure recorded for the first time in the history of the football organization.
With 48 participating national teams and a total of 104 matches scheduled, all games are expected to take place in full stadiums. Infantino expressed confidence that all difficulties related to security and logistics would be resolved, stating his hope that the tournament will proceed flawlessly both from a sporting and commercial perspective.
Nevertheless, it is an undeniable fact that the situation is not entirely smooth. The Iraqi Football Federation has expressed a request to withdraw its participation due to logistics and visa issues, while US President Donald Trump has shown an ambiguous and cautious attitude towards the participation of the Iranian national team in the tournament.
The irregular attendance of Iranian representatives at FIFA meetings is further fueling doubts within the international football community. Despite all these challenges, Infantino guarantees an unforgettable show and a bright celebration for fans, expressing confidence in football's unifying power.
