Platini sharply criticized the video referee system

Former UEFA president and a great legend in French football history, Michel Platini, has expressed his sharp opinions on the video replay system currently used in modern football matches. Zamin.uz reported this.
According to the renowned expert, this system disrupts the natural spirit of the game and makes the referees' work excessively complicated. In an interview on his "After Foot" TV show, Platini stated that technology should only be used in cases difficult to detect with the human eye, such as offside and line-related incidents.
According to him, new technologies should not alter the fundamental rules of football and must preserve the game's elegance. He particularly opposed excessive interference by video referees in cases where players hit the ball with their hands.
Platini noted that the constant changes to these rules and the requirement to analyze every situation in excessive depth are negatively affecting the quality of football. In his opinion, playing with the hand can be accidental or intentional, but due to VAR, referees are forced to analyze every minor episode for a long time.
This slows down the pace of the game and causes fans to lose interest. It is worth noting that the video replay system was officially adopted on international fields in 2018.
Since then, this issue has been the cause of various debates in the football world. Many well-known experts and football fans, like Platini, are highlighting the negative impact of technology on game dynamics.
In their view, football consists simply of a ball and players, with its foundation lying in human emotion and quick decision-making. Therefore, it is necessary to review and simplify this system in the future.
