FIFA rejected the proposal to move the Iran team's matches

The international football organization FIFA has rejected the proposal to move the Iran national team's matches in the 2026 World Cup to another country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Earlier, the president of the Iran Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, had informed that negotiations were underway with the organization on this matter, and the national team might play in Mexico instead of the USA. This proposal was considered as part of Iran's efforts to reach an agreement with international partners.
However, according to The Times, FIFA has not officially reviewed this proposal and stated that it is not feasible. The reason is that tickets for the tournament have already been sold, and the decision to move the matches to another location would negatively affect the preparations of other participating teams.
Additionally, such changes would disrupt the competition's schedule. The Iran national team will participate in the 2026 World Cup in Group "G" alongside the teams of Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.
All matches are planned to be held on US territory. FIFA's decision was made taking into account the competition's schedule and all matters related to tickets for fans.
