Boxing returns to the 2028 Olympic Games

Recent events in the international boxing world have left a significant mark on sports history. Zamin.uz reports on this.
In February 2025, the International Olympic Committee made an important decision recognizing World Boxing as a global entity and a temporary international governing body. This achievement is not merely the victory of a single organization but represents a major step toward further strengthening the global prestige of boxing.
In the next stage, the International Olympic Committee officially confirmed the return of boxing competitions to the program of the 2028 Olympic Games on behalf of World Boxing. This decision has opened new doors for athletes and serves to further develop boxing on an international scale.
Today, the organization's membership has grown by several more countries, bringing the total number of federations to 168. Notably, Russia has also been included in the list of new member states.
Thus, Mozambique, Zambia, Tonga, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Niue, Cyprus, and Belarus have also joined the ranks of World Boxing members. This expansion of the membership list has strengthened opportunities for developing sports in various regions and participating in international competitions.
