The CEO of the Italian professional football league, Luigi De Siervo, openly spoke about important and critical problems in the country's football infrastructure in his recent speech. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, most of the stadiums in Italy are among the oldest buildings in Europe, with an average age exceeding seventy years. This situation hinders the improvement of players' performance levels and the financial strengthening of teams.
The director emphasized that the situation can improve by introducing a new economic model, but it will take at least six or seven years for this system to fully take effect. Currently, during this period, the gap in competition between the Italian league and other strong European championships is widening.
Among future plans, the European Championship to be held in 2032 is considered the last and most important opportunity for Italy. Currently, more than one billion euros are being invested in Milan, with plans to build modern new stadiums.
Additionally, infrastructure projects for the Lazio and Roma teams in Rome are actively being implemented. In the cities of Genoa and Florence, work has begun to renovate existing stadiums to meet modern requirements.
Italy and Turkey have been selected as hosts for the 2032 European Championship, which is a strong signal requiring the rapid modernization of football infrastructure in the country. This process is not only about updating stadiums but is also a key step in developing the entire national football system.
