Jamie Carragher Harshly Criticizes Chelsea's Management Policy

Former Liverpool defender and renowned football pundit Jamie Carragher has launched a scathing critique of the management policy at London's Chelsea. According to him, while the capital club was once a powerful trophy-winning machine, it has now become a testing ground for expensive and failed experiments.
The dismissal of Liam Rosenior marks the fifth managerial departure in the last four years, signaling deep-rooted systemic issues within the club's leadership. Since the change of ownership in 2022, over 1.5 billion pounds has been spent on squad reinforcement and infrastructure; however, despite such massive financial investment, on-field performance continues to decline.
Carragher emphasizes that Chelsea's leadership has dismantled a long-established winning culture, treating managers as mere functionaries, which severely undermines team stability. Currently, the policy of long-term contracts and exploiting financial loopholes is being prioritized over sporting results, negatively affecting the team's morale and drawing justified fan protests.
According to the expert, Chelsea is now in greater need of sensible ownership than a new manager. Carragher believes that while the new owners aimed to completely move away from the Roman Abramovich era's management style, they have effectively only succeeded in damaging the club's reputation and international prestige.
Chelsea now finds itself searching for yet another manager ahead of the 2026-2027 season, leaving the team's future in question.
