Arne Slot provides update on Hugo Ekitike's injury

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has shared the latest update regarding the health of forward Hugo Ekitike. According to the manager, the surgery following a ruptured Achilles tendon was successful.
The talented French striker suffered the severe injury during a high-intensity European competition match against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain. Medical examinations confirmed that the player will be sidelined for at least nine months.
This serious injury has ruled Ekitike out not only for the remainder of the current season but also for the 2026 World Cup. Experts predict he will likely miss a significant portion of the next season as well.
Arne Slot emphasized that while the operation went well, a long and arduous rehabilitation process is required. He stated that medical staff will closely monitor every stage to ensure the player returns even stronger.
Currently, Liverpool's injury situation is becoming increasingly complex. Starting goalkeeper Alisson Becker is dealing with muscle issues, while Giorgi Mamardashvili has sustained a knee injury.
Consequently, Freddie Woodman is expected to start in goal for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace. Despite these setbacks, Liverpool remains fifth in the Premier League standings, five points ahead of Brighton with a game in hand, as they continue their push for Champions League qualification.
