Florentino Perez Dismisses Real Madrid Head Coach Alvaro Arbeloa

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has decided to relieve Alvaro Arbeloa of his duties as head coach following unsatisfactory results this season. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Although the specialist enjoys support from the players in the dressing room and some members of the club's management, the president believes it is time for serious reforms within the team. According to Goal.com, the club's unsuccessful performance this year was the primary reason for this drastic decision.
The Madrid side failed to win any trophies this season and currently trails their arch-rivals Barcelona by nine points in the Spanish league standings. Arbeloa, who replaced Xabi Alonso in January 2026, managed to establish a warm rapport with the players in a short time, but struggled to deliver consistent results on the pitch.
Florentino Perez believes that the current win rate is completely insufficient for the club's high traditions and standards. There have been differing views and disagreements within the club's administration regarding this matter.
Some executives argue that the 43-year-old specialist should be given another chance to reshape the team and implement his new ideas. However, according to influential journalist Jorge Picon, the president maintains a firm stance that a coaching change is necessary and does not intend to change his mind.
In twenty-two matches under Arbeloa's management, Real Madrid recorded fourteen wins and seven defeats. The team lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, exited the domestic cup early, and failed to overcome Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Following these setbacks, the club management has begun considering experienced candidates such as Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp, Didier Deschamps, Mauricio Pochettino, and Lionel Scaloni. A final and official decision regarding the coach's future will be made in June, after reviewing the plans of new candidates and the management's overall conclusions.
For now, the team aims to complete the remaining matches in the Spanish league and prepare for the summer transfer window and the expected major changes.
