Nodirbek Abdusattorov showcases his skills in a prestigious online tournament

Nodirbek Abdusattorov, the bright star of Uzbekistan's chess, is once again demonstrating his exceptional skills by participating in a prestigious online tournament. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Organized by Chess.com, the competition features a total prize pool of $250,000. This tournament serves not only as a financial incentive but also as a qualifying stage for next year's World Championship, ensuring intense and uncompromising competition among the participants.
Representing the NAVI team, our compatriot faced an unexpected hurdle in the early stages. After losing a match to Belarusian chess player Denis Lazavik, Abdusattorov was moved to the losers' bracket according to the tournament rules.
However, this setback did not break the young Grandmaster's will. On the contrary, he played with even greater determination in subsequent matches, managing to defeat some of the world's strongest chess players in succession.
After first securing a victory over the experienced Russian player Ian Nepomniachtchi, Nodirbek faced Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France in the next round. This match held special significance for Uzbek fans, as the French player had previously eliminated another compatriot, Javokhir Sindorov, from the competition.
Abdusattorov defeated his opponent convincingly, clearing his path forward and avenging his friend's defeat. Now, our compatriot will test his strength against the talented Indian chess player Nihal Sarin in the quarterfinals.
This crucial match is scheduled for the evening of April 25. If Nodirbek successfully passes this stage, he may face Denis Lazavik again or an Iranian opponent in the semifinals.
According to the rules, any participant who loses twice is eliminated from the tournament. The winner of the losers' bracket will face the world chess leader, Magnus Carlsen, in the final showdown.
It is worth noting that in previous years, Nodirbek Abdusattorov has also achieved high results in prestigious competitions, winning significant prize money. His current physical and mental state, combined with his consistent playing style, undoubtedly sets the stage for new victories.
Uzbek fans are currently focused on the quarterfinal match and expect further triumphs from their compatriot. According to One.uz, this tournament is considered one of the most prestigious online events in the chess world.
