Former defender of Madrid's "Real" team, Michel Salgado, responded to those criticizing the "whites" mainly for the absence of their trained players in the main squad. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that while "Barcelona" is winning with the help of substitute players, there is less talk about "Real's" internal capabilities. According to Salgado, when "Real" was winning trophies, no one thought about how many homegrown players were playing in the team. He stated that the most important thing for "Real" is to win, and considering trained players is a secondary issue.
“When we won the Champions League three times in a row, no one talked about the 'Real' academy,” he said. Additionally, Salgado noted that there is an eight-year gap between the emergence of Lamin Yamal and the generation of Lionel Messi at "Barcelona." During this time, "Barcelona" has not boasted about high-level players.
In the 2024/2025 season, "Real" failed to win any trophies. The team's head coach Carlo Ancelotti left his position and became the head coach of the Brazil national team.
He was replaced by Xabi Alonso, who began to manage the team.
