There is a possibility that the Moscow "Torpedo" team will be excluded from the competition during the 2025/2026 season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In such a case, no one will fill the vacancy of the "autoworkers," and the championship will continue with 15 teams. This was announced by Maxim Mitrofanov, the Secretary General of the Russian Football Union.
According to him, no new team will be added to replace "Torpedo," and the competition will continue with exactly 15 teams. Mitrofanov also emphasized the importance of distinguishing between personal guilt and the club's overall guilt.
The level of guilt of the participants will serve as the basis for the application of personal penalties. Earlier, the Russian Football Union and the "Torpedo" team confirmed that they would start the season within the framework of the Russian Premier League.
Last season, "Torpedo" secured second place in the First League, qualifying for direct promotion to the higher league. However, the fate of the team remains undecided due to allegations of bribing referees against the club owner.
This situation may affect the team's future participation. There are ongoing discussions in the football community about the necessity of separating club and personal responsibility.
Moreover, ensuring the stability of the participating teams and fair competition is considered important. Changes that may arise during the season could have a significant impact on the football environment, and these issues will remain under constant scrutiny.
