DeepSeek company attracts investment for the development of artificial intelligence

DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng emphasized in a meeting with future investors that the company's main goal is not to generate profit, but to advance artificial general intelligence technologies. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the same time, he stated that the company will continue to release models with open-source code while preserving the scientific laboratory approach. This is reported by industry publications.
According to information from Bloomberg, this is the company's first external fundraising round in its history. DeepSeek plans to raise at least $300 million.
During this process, the company's overall market valuation is expected to reach approximately $10 billion. Some analysts estimate that the amount of capital attracted in the long term could reach up to $7 billion.
Until now, the DeepSeek project has been financially supported by High-Flyer Quant, the investment firm founded by Liang Wenfeng. Previously, avoiding external investors was seen as a way to preserve the independence of the company's research.
However, the current situation indicates that the project's scope has expanded significantly. The costs of training and developing modern AI systems have exceeded even the capabilities of the largest hedge funds.
From a strategic perspective, the company continues to focus on open models and fundamental research. In April of this year, DeepSeek introduced a new family of models with trillions of parameters.
These systems are specially adapted for various technological platforms and computing devices. The previously released R1 model caused a major stir in the global market, completely changing perceptions about the costs of creating advanced systems.
So far, the exact details of the deal, the list of investors, and the timeline for completion have not been disclosed. Experts believe that such a large-scale fundraising process will not go unnoticed by Chinese state authorities, as oversight of AI developers in the country is intensifying.
The company is maintaining its research approach while stepping into a new phase of development.
