In recent days, the issue of black smoke spreading in the city of Navoi and its surroundings has been widely discussed among the public. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Videos and photos circulating on social media reported that the air has become severely polluted, posing a threat to people's health. Due to the seriousness of the issue, the press service of "NavoiAzot" Joint Stock Company issued an official statement.
The statement mentioned that the spreading dust-like smoke is not related to the activities of "NavoiAzot" JSC. The company's officials have begun to investigate the situation in cooperation with the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan's Navoi regional council and other ecological organizations.
As a result of the investigations, it was determined on the morning of July 21 that the black smoke was coming from some private enterprises operating in the area of the former Navoi electrochemical plant. In order to ensure transparency, the company's management installed additional video surveillance cameras in the ammonium nitrate production workshop.
This further confirmed that there is no connection between the activities of "NavoiAzot" JSC and the spread of smoke. According to reports, dust-like smoke was also observed in the city of Navoi on July 13 and 19.
At that time, the Navoi Regional Ecology Department linked this situation to the activities of the "NavoiAzot" enterprise. However, subsequent analyses and video surveillance revealed that these accusations were unfounded.
Currently, the waste emissions from private enterprises in the area of the former electrochemical plant are being inspected by state authorities. Additional information is expected to be provided to the public based on relevant data and final conclusions.
Ecologists believe that air pollution poses a significant threat to public health. Therefore, responsible agencies need to conduct prompt inspections and clarify the situation.
The residents of Navoi region, especially citizens living around the central city, are urged not to remain indifferent to such situations in order to maintain ecological balance and prevent air pollution, and to report immediately to the relevant organizations if they notice any suspicious odors or smoke.
