According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jahongir Jo‘rayevich Hotamov has been appointed as the Deputy Prosecutor General and the head of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes. Jahongir Hotamov has been active as the Deputy Prosecutor General for the past two years, successfully carrying out various responsible tasks in the law enforcement system.
He served as the First Deputy Prosecutor of Jizzakh region from 2016 to 2017, and as the First Deputy Prosecutor of Tashkent city from 2017 to 2018. From February 2018 to October 2020, he worked as the Prosecutor of Khorezm region.
After that, he served as the Prosecutor of Namangan region from 2020 to 2022, and as the Prosecutor of Samarkand region from February 2022 to August 2023. According to reports, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes has been operating under the leadership of Shamsiddin Sohibnazarov since October 2023.
At the beginning of 2024, it was planned to strengthen the department's activities and for its head to also perform the duties of the Deputy Prosecutor General. In April, reports circulated about Sohibnazarov's resignation, but this information has not been officially confirmed.
Jahongir Hotamov's new appointment is of great importance in strengthening the rule of law and ensuring economic security in our country. These changes will serve to enhance the effectiveness of the law enforcement system.
