Government decision: will those with academic debts be expelled from studies?

The issue of expelling students with academic debts from studies is being discussed in Uzbekistan, according to Talimxabarlari.uz. This proposal is included in the draft government decision developed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations, which aims to amend the decision No. 824 dated December 31, 2020.
According to the draft, the 42nd clause of the regulation that establishes the procedure for implementing the credit-module system in higher education institutions may remove the sentence stating, "Students with academic debts based on the results of the semester and academic year will not be expelled from studies."
There are opponents to the proposal to expel students
The "Center for Educational Projects" has opposed this change. According to them, expelling a student due to academic debt contradicts the principles of the credit-module system. The project office suggested that students should have the opportunity to retake academic debts, catch up in the next semester, or replace the subject with a new one.
This proposal is being discussed regarding the higher education system, and the project may be approved taking into account some objections.
