In the current era, where global trade rules are rapidly changing and disruptions in logistics chains continue, the need for new approaches to effectively develop the textile sector has been emphasized. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In such circumstances, the head of state announced the establishment of a new institution – the Agency for the Development of Light Industry. This agency will be responsible for the development of the textile, leather, and silk industries, increasing production capacities, and enhancing export potential.
Nozimjon Kholmurodov, the First Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, has been appointed as the head of the agency. A council consisting of experienced and reputable entrepreneurs will be formed under the agency.
Additionally, a special fund will be established, with 200 million dollars allocated to it. Through this fund, low-cost working capital will be allocated to textile enterprises.
The head of state instructed the agency to develop specific solutions for direct communication with entrepreneurs, reducing production and export costs. Furthermore, tasks were set to double the export of finished products through the processing regime in the customs area, rehabilitate enterprises operating at low capacity, and expand cooperation in the sector.
A program for the development of the textile industry until 2030 will be prepared in collaboration with international consultants. Specific proposals for modernizing the leather, silk, and carpet industries are also planned to be developed.
During the meeting, the head of state addressed the officials, highlighting the difficulty of generating additional revenue for the budget in the current complex conditions and stating that there must be tangible results corresponding to the assistance provided. It was determined that strict and systematic control would be established over the implementation of these tasks.
The new agency and its council are expected to effectively utilize state support to bring the textile and light industry sectors to a competitive level (source: zamin.uz)
