According to Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, more than 800,000 ethnic Kazakhs reside in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the Kursiv publication. He emphasized that support efforts for the Kazakh community in the neighboring country are ongoing regularly.
Additionally, Ashimbayev noted that over 600,000 citizens of Uzbek ethnicity live in Kazakhstan. Special attention is being paid to their learning of the mother tongue, development of culture, and preservation of traditions.
In Kazakhstan, schools teaching in Uzbek, theaters, literary circles, and mass media operate. In Uzbekistan, cultural support similar to that for the Kazakh diaspora has been organized, with the Republic Kazakh Cultural Center functioning.
