A unique project is being implemented in Tashkent city to ease the lives of the population and ensure their safe mobility. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as an experiment, guide dogs for visually impaired individuals, as well as assistance dogs for citizens with disabilities living alone, are being trained. Currently, the process of training dogs is ongoing at special training grounds.
First, the dogs are trained in special arenas, and later practical exercises are conducted on city streets. Guide dogs help visually impaired people move safely, overcome various obstacles, and reach the necessary destination.
Assistance dogs also help people with disabilities who live alone with household tasks. For example, they learn to follow a predetermined route, bring necessary medicines or food, and shop according to a list in a special bag.
After the pharmacist or seller places the order in the bag, the dog follows commands to return home. During the training process, the dogs go out with special trainers to memorize the route and learn to respond correctly to various situations.
The full training course lasts from eight to ten months. During this period, the dogs memorize the names of necessary places, learn to go there and back, and safely guide their owner.
Since this initiative is being implemented for the first time in our country, awareness-raising activities about the importance of guide and assistance dogs are being conducted among the population. According to experts, guide dogs serve not only as the eyes, hands, or feet of a person but also as their silent friend in life.
