President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Islamic Civilization Center and reviewed the final finishing and furnishing works. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This project was initiated based on the decision of the head of state dated June 23, 2017, and its foundation was laid on the day of Eid al-Fitr in 2018. Currently, the construction works have reached the final stage.
The complex is built in an ancient architectural style, featuring facades 34 meters high on all four sides and a 65-meter dome in the center. The central part of the center houses the Qur’an hall, where an ancient Uthmanic Mushaf is preserved.
Additionally, copies of sacred books written during the eras of the Samanids, Karakhanids, Khwarezmshahs, Uzbek Khanate, Timurids, and other historical dynasties, along with their translations in old Uzbek, are exhibited. Space is also allocated for some of the rarest manuscript Qur’an samples in the world.
The President reviewed the final finishing works and gave his recommendations to the officials. A conference hall with 460 seats has been established in the center, creating favorable conditions for holding various international meetings and conferences.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Uzbekistan has a great history and stated that the scientific and cultural heritage created by our ancestors has left an indelible mark in the history of humanity. The complex includes sections such as “Civilizations before Islam,” “First Renaissance Period,” “Second Renaissance Period,” “Uzbekistan in the 20th Century,” and “New Uzbekistan – New Renaissance.”
These sections provide information about different historical periods through historical artifacts, manuscript sources, images, and multimedia tools. The activities of scholars such as Al-Khwarizmi, Al-Farghani, Al-Farabi, Al-Biruni, Ibn Sina, Burhan al-Din Marg‘inani, Mahmud al-Zamakhshari, Mirzo Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi, Babur Mirza, and Ali Qushchi are extensively covered.
Moreover, the contributions of Islamic scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Tirmidhi, Hakim Tirmidhi, Abu Mansur Maturidi, Abu Muin Nasafi, Qaffal Shashi, Abdulkhaliq Gijduvani, Najmiddin Kubra, Bahauddin Naqshband, and Khoja Ahror Wali to Islamic enlightenment are detailed. The activities of historical figures like Bibikhonim, Khonzodabegim, Gavharshodbegim, Gulbadanbegim, Nodirabegim, Uvaisi, and Anbar Otin as patrons of knowledge and enlightenment are also widely highlighted.
The center emphasizes the importance of deeply studying the heritage of our great ancestors and applying it in life in accordance with modern requirements. For this purpose, cooperation will be established with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, Imam Bukhari, Imam Tirmidhi, and other international scientific organizations, and scientific research will be conducted to respond to contemporary challenges.
The President highly appreciated the construction works at the center and gave instructions to effectively organize its activities and enrich its content. As Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted, great efforts have been made here over the past eight years, resulting in the establishment of a deeply meaningful center.
Visitors to this center will witness the rich history of the Uzbek people and the knowledge and thinking of our ancestors, gaining great spiritual strength. The head of state also familiarized himself with the trade and service facilities built in the adjacent area of the center, which will serve to develop tourism in the future.
