According to the presidential press service, 750 of them are financially supported by the state through the "El-yurt umidi" foundation and are studying at higher education institutions abroad.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that last year Uzbek youth ranked first in Central Asia in terms of admission to the top 500 best universities. This result was a great source of joy for the entire nation.
Especially, the happiness of parents whose children are studying at the world's most prestigious universities is indescribable. The head of state noted that during the eight years since his election as president, the coverage of higher education in the republic increased from 9 percent to 42 percent.
During this period, the number of places in preschool education institutions increased by 2.5 million, reaching 78 percent coverage. Conditions were created for an additional 1 million students through the construction of new schools and the expansion of existing ones.
The "El-yurt umidi" foundation was established in September 2018 based on a presidential decree. This foundation financially supports Uzbek youth studying at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels at the most prestigious educational and scientific institutions abroad.
It also assists in providing worthy employment for specialists educated abroad in the country. One of the foundation's main tasks is to monitor the professional activities of personnel and support their professional development and career advancement.
This serves to enhance the country's intellectual potential and contribute to development. In 2025, 600 billion soums were allocated from the state budget for the "El-yurt umidi" foundation.
This amount is planned to increase to 800 billion soums in 2026, 950 billion soums in 2027, and up to 1 trillion soums in 2028. This financial support expands opportunities for youth to receive education at the world's most prestigious universities.
