
On September 2, in Beijing, extensive negotiations took place with the participation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the official delegation led by the leader of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During this meeting, issues of strengthening strategic partnership relations between the two countries and further expanding practical cooperation were thoroughly discussed. President Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Xi Jinping and the Chinese people on the 80th anniversary of Victory and the successful holding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin.
He also emphasized the relevance of the global governance initiative proposed by the Chinese leader. The heads of state noted the achievements in bilateral relations in recent years, highlighting the strengthening of political dialogue and increasing mutual cooperation on important issues.
The clear position of Uzbekistan regarding the "One China" policy and the fight against terrorism, extremism, and separatism was confirmed. Cooperation in trade-economic, technological, and financial-investment sectors is steadily developing.
Last year, the volume of goods exchanged exceeded 14 billion dollars, and since the beginning of 2024, a 23 percent growth has been recorded. It is planned to increase this figure to 20 billion dollars through the export of industrial and agricultural products.
The investment project portfolio has exceeded 60 billion dollars, and this year 64 projects worth more than 10 billion dollars have been launched. Joint technoparks and special industrial zones operate in the regions of Uzbekistan, production of BYD electric cars is being expanded, and the level of localization is increasing.
The intensification of interregional exchanges was highly appreciated. Based on Chinese experience, joint projects to combat poverty are being implemented in the country, and expert assistance continues.
To develop innovative projects and train qualified specialists, the establishment of a center for artificial intelligence development was proposed. Additionally, the practical phase of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan strategic railway construction has begun.
The necessity to expand cooperation in science, medicine, education, and tourism was emphasized. A branch of the Northwestern Agriculture and Forestry University and the International Mathematics Center were opened in the country.
An agreement was signed to open a branch of Xi'an Petroleum University, and the opening of a branch of the Beijing Institute of Technology is planned. The second Education Forum will be held in Uzbekistan this year.
Quotas for learning Chinese and training young people will be increased, and the activities of Confucius Institutes will be supported. At the same time, "Lu Ban workshops" will be established for the energy, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, medicine, and agriculture sectors.
Currently, Uzbekistan is also participating in a large exhibition at the National Museum of China. Art exhibitions are planned to be held in Shanghai and Beijing in 2027.
Within the visit, a historic agreement on opening cultural centers is expected to be signed. During the meeting, views were exchanged on the international agenda.
The importance of coordination and mutual support within multilateral structures such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the "Central Asia-China" format was emphasized.
