Newborn baby clothes manufactured in Turkey were inspected through a control purchase at the “MTTY” store belonging to “SMT” LLC located in the city of Andijan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The selected product was analyzed in an accredited testing laboratory, where a number of deficiencies contrary to technical regulations were identified. Although the main fabric composition was 100 percent cotton, it was found that the decorative fabric consisted of 100 percent polyester.
Additionally, it was found that attaching stitches were not made on the front side of the item. The synthetic decorative elements directly touch the baby's neck and arm skin.
Moreover, the amount of free formaldehyde exceeded the norm, measuring 22.6 micrograms instead of the allowed 20 micrograms. According to officials, the use of such products may cause allergies and skin inflammation in children.
Currently, appropriate measures are being taken against “SMT” LLC, which put these non-compliant clothes on sale. Requests have been sent to remove the products from sales points, and the issue is under strict control (zamin.uz).
