According to information provided by the State Security Service and the Border Troops, the actions of Uzbek border guards in connection with the tragic incident involving Kyrgyz citizens were found to be lawful and justified. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
On August 15, near the Ugam-Chotqol reserve in the Bostanliq district of Tashkent region, two unidentified individuals were detected moving within the border area. Border guards warned them to stop, but the individuals did not comply and attempted to flee.
According to regulations, the border guards first fired warning shots into the air, but when this had no effect, they were forced to use weapons against the persons violating the state border. As a result, both individuals were seriously wounded and died at the scene.
During the inspection, a tent, three horses, food supplies, and traces of a third person were found. The border services of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were immediately informed about the incident.
On August 31, it was confirmed that the deceased were Kyrgyz citizens, and their bodies were handed over to their relatives. On September 2-3, the heads of the border agencies of the two countries jointly examined the incident site.
The investigation confirmed that the actions of the border patrol complied with Uzbek legislation and that the deceased had violated the state border. It was also established that a third person managed to return to Kyrgyz territory and hide.
At the same time, bilateral cooperation was agreed upon to identify the fleeing individual and take appropriate measures. The official statement emphasized that, to prevent unfortunate incidents, explanatory work will be conducted with residents living in border areas, and protection and cooperation will be strengthened in mountainous regions.
This incident once again demonstrated the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries at the border and to prevent such tragedies in the future (source: zamin.uz).
