
A solemn ceremony was held in Moscow to commemorate the birthday of the great writer and philosopher Lev Tolstoy. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At this event, the winners of the 2025 L.N. Tolstoy Second International Peace Prize were announced.
According to the voting results, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadir Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev were awarded this prestigious prize. The chairman of the jury, artistic director and general director of the Mariinsky Theatre, as well as the head of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre, Valery Gergiev, emphasized that this decision was made unanimously.
According to the organizing committee, the heads of state were deemed worthy of the award for their personal initiatives and practical efforts to strengthen peace and security in the Central Asian region. In particular, on March 31, 2025, a border agreement was signed between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, putting a legal end to a long-standing unresolved issue.
