On September 10, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Russian delegation led by Alexander Beglov, Governor of Saint Petersburg. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meeting, issues of further developing mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed. The main focus was on deepening economic ties with Saint Petersburg and implementing cultural and humanitarian exchange programs.
It was emphasized that mutual trade turnover has been steadily growing in recent years. According to last year's results, the volume of export-import at the regional level increased by 20%.
In this regard, work is ongoing to establish a Business Center in the capital and to implement the “Peterburg theme” project in the New Tashkent area. These initiatives will play an important role in expanding business relations, developing tourist flows, and the creative industry.
Within the framework of the meeting, a “roadmap” was approved for the implementation of 23 cooperation projects covering the industrial and service sectors. The list prioritized metallurgy, equipment manufacturing, road and infrastructure construction, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food industry, agriculture, and logistics.
Each project involves technological modernization, increasing production efficiency, and forming joint value chains. In addition, specific proposals to expand cooperation in private medicine, education, utilities, digital technologies, migration, and tourism were supported.
Plans include personnel training, experience exchange, and the introduction of advanced management methods in these areas. The parties paid special attention to developing humanitarian ties.
Agreements were reached to regularly organize cultural events and expand exchange programs among creative teams and youth. Such cooperation not only strengthens trust between people but also creates new opportunities in tourism, the creative economy, and education.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to jointly implement measures to effectively hold the second meeting of the Council of the two countries' regions in October this year. This platform will allow authorities, businesses, and experts to discuss specific projects, resolve issues, and sign new cooperation agreements.
In conclusion, the 20% trade growth over the past year and the “roadmap” including 23 projects demonstrate readiness to bring bilateral cooperation to a new level. The Business Center, the “Peterburg theme” project, and humanitarian exchanges will harmonize economic and cultural spheres and contribute to long-term results.
Going forward, attention will focus on the specific agreements to be formed at the council meeting in October. Source: zamin.uz
