The last general population census in Uzbekistan was conducted in 1989. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Now, this large-scale event is planned to take place from January 15 to February 28, 2026. The census process will first be carried out online via the internet for 17 days, then continue for one month with door-to-door visits involving neighborhood committee employees.
This initiative will allow the state to reduce expenses by 1.3 trillion soums. It is also emphasized that the census process will be simple, fast, and transparent.
The number of questions has been reduced from the previous 328 to 71, making the population census more efficient and convenient. According to the recommendations of the European Statistical Conference, a unified database will be created during the census covering the population's composition, migration status, family situation, and sources of income.
Thus, the state will have complete and reliable information about the social and economic status of the population. Additionally, accurate statistics will be collected regarding the agricultural sector.
Land use, livestock, and poultry numbers will be taken into account. This information will help increase the efficiency of funds allocated to agriculture and ensure food security in the country.
To successfully organize the census, neighborhood committee employees will be trained and supported based on a special training program. Moreover, extensive promotional activities will be actively conducted through mass media and social networks.
This comprehensive event will assist in effectively implementing the state's strategic policy by collecting demographic and economic data on a precise basis and will play an important role in improving the population's living standards (source: zamin.uz).
