Construction work at Namangan airport is progressing rapidly. A new modern terminal and cargo terminal are being built here with a major investment totaling 140 million dollars.
The new terminal will be three stories high, and once operational, the passenger handling capacity will increase by 2.5 times. The terminal will include border control and visa departments, a business lounge, retail and dining outlets, a medical room, as well as Duty Free shops.
Additionally, a large cargo terminal is being constructed within the airport area. This terminal will enable the handling of over 50 tons of cargo daily and facilitate exports to 90 countries.
This will create a unique cargo system on a valley-wide scale, significantly enhancing the region's transit and export potential. For the current year, it is planned to attract 1.5 million foreign and over 2 million domestic tourists to Namangan region.
The region aims to increase service exports to 210 thousand dollars. The exports of Andijan and Fergana regions are also on a steady growth path.
Special service equipment for receiving and servicing aircraft of various sizes will be updated at the airport. Additionally, catering services, a refueling complex, and other supplementary facilities will be constructed.
The new terminal will be launched next year. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the necessity of developing the infrastructure around the airport in accordance with modern requirements.
In particular, hotels, shopping and entertainment complexes, various service centers, parking lots, and service facilities need to be established. Overall, the new airport and cargo terminal being built in Namangan are expected to provide a significant boost not only to tourism and trade but also to the entire valley's economy.
