Every year, the next session of the UN General Assembly begins in New York City during the third week of September. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This year's session is being held for the 80th time and holds a special place in history due to significant events related to changes in global politics, particularly the Palestine issue. This session is also of great importance for Uzbekistan.
Political scientist Kamoliddin Rabbimov expressed these views on the Kun.uz website. Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is participating in the session.
Since the post-World War II period, the UN, its General Assembly, and Security Council have become the center of global diplomatic and political debates. This platform allows world leaders to express their views and promote their interests.
Therefore, many leaders personally attend UN sessions to openly share their opinions. Mirziyoyev's trip to New York consists of three main parts.
The first is holding meetings with leaders of major corporations and international organizations in the United States. The President engaged in dialogue with heads of leading companies such as Blackrock, the World Bank, and Citigroup, calling for investment in Uzbekistan and the development of cooperation projects.
These meetings lay the groundwork for future cooperation. In the second part, the President delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly, presenting Uzbekistan's domestic and regional policies, as well as its position on global issues.
He emphasized the commitment to reforms initiated since 2017, which is an important signal for the international community. He also spoke about state policy in education, women's rights, and the rule of law.
He highlighted that border and other issues in the Central Asian region have been resolved and stressed the priority of cooperation in the region. He proposed adopting a UN resolution to develop transport and logistics projects in Afghanistan.
Regarding the Palestine issue, he supported the two-state principle for two peoples and noted the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state for peace in the region. On the Ukraine war, Uzbekistan emphasized that the conflict should be ended sooner through political and diplomatic means.
In the third part, the President met with other heads of state, promoted Uzbekistan's interests, and strengthened international relations. This process is a vivid example of the country's international prestige achieved over the past eight years.
While Uzbekistan previously held a limited position on the international stage, today the head of state actively cooperates with major economic and political organizations. Source: Kun.uz
