
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, delivered a speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At this jubilee event, the head of our state expressed his views on global and regional issues, as well as on Uzbekistan's domestic and foreign policy directions. President Mirziyoyev emphasized that today’s complex and rapidly changing global situation requires enriching the UN’s activities with new approaches.
At a time when the role of international institutions is declining, conflicts and disputes are intensifying, and technological and social inequalities are increasing. Therefore, there is a need to expand the composition of the UN Security Council and renew its activities.
Uzbekistan is implementing consistent reforms in democratic, legal, and social spheres in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals. In recent years, the poverty level has significantly decreased, and the education and healthcare systems are improving.
Within the framework of international cooperation, an international platform for educators is being created, and advanced initiatives in the healthcare sector are being promoted. Regional integration and cooperation are a priority issue for Uzbekistan.
In recent years, trade volumes and investments in Central Asia have increased, and new industrial and trade zones are being established in border areas. Uzbekistan continues to develop cooperation with the UN to strengthen regional and global security and to combat terrorism.
The President stressed the necessity of uniting the international community’s efforts for the stability and development of Afghanistan. He also expressed views on the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the situation in Ukraine, noting the importance of continuing political negotiations.
Additionally, the Aral Sea problem, water resource shortages, and climate change were highlighted as issues requiring global attention. Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to strengthen international cooperation in addressing environmental problems.
Proposals were made to create international mechanisms to eliminate inequalities in digital development and artificial intelligence. Instilling ideas of friendship, peace, and humanism in the younger generation was identified as an urgent task.
For this purpose, the establishment of the "World Youth Movement for Peace" is being proposed. Moreover, Uzbekistan pays great attention to promoting Islamic enlightenment and cultural heritage.
In the near future, the opening of a center for Islamic civilization is planned. New Uzbekistan supports open dialogue and close partnership with all countries and expressed its readiness to strengthen cooperation between peoples and cultures.
