At the international forum held in Moscow, Azim Ahmadkhodjayev, head of the "Uzatom" agency, emphasized that the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country could reduce the cost of electricity. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, after the initial large investment, the cost of producing energy per kilowatt-hour will significantly decrease. Ahmadkhodjayev believes that as production capacity increases, the energy production process will be optimized, leading to lower prices for both the population and the economy.
However, economist Otabek Bakirov views this opinion with skepticism. He points out that although the construction of nuclear power plants is often justified by the promise of cheap energy, in practice nuclear energy can be more expensive compared to gas, wind, or hydro energy sources.
Therefore, claims about the reduction of electricity prices do not have a solid basis. Construction of a small-capacity nuclear power plant has begun in the Forish district of Jizzakh region.
According to the project, it will take at least seven to eight years to fully commission the plant. At the same time, building a nuclear power plant in the country could play an important role in diversifying and ensuring the stability of energy supply.
However, debates about its impact on electricity prices continue. Source: zamin.uz
