
The number of foreign students coming to Uzbekistan for education significantly increased in the last eight months of 2024. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the data from the National Statistics Committee, a total of 14,216 foreign students entered the country during this period. This figure is 3,179 more than the same period last year, representing a growth rate of 28.8 percent.
The increase in the number of students from abroad indicates the growing international reputation of Uzbekistan's education system. The majority of students came from Turkmenistan, numbering 4,603.
Additionally, Indian students rank second with 3,477 individuals. The number of students from Tajikistan, China, and Pakistan is also significant.
The distribution of students from other countries is as follows: South Korea – 553, Kyrgyzstan – 333, United States – 319, Philippines – 245, Turkey – 233, Afghanistan – 226, Egypt – 203, Russia – 121, United Kingdom – 110, South Africa – 98, and a total of 893 students from other countries are studying. It was also reported that at the beginning of the 2024/2025 academic year, the number of foreign students studying at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan reached 12,500.
