
At the “Raisin Festival” held for the first time in Qo‘shrabot district of Samarkand region, “Samarkand raisins” were included in the state register as a geographical indication. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Samarkand regional administration announced this. The event was attended by Acting Governor of the region Adiz Boboyev, Minister of Justice Akbar Toshqulov, representatives of various ministries, mass media, and the general public.
At the ceremony, the official document on the registration of “Samarkand raisins” in the state register was presented. According to the information, last year 663 thousand tons of grapes were grown in the Samarkand region, and this figure is expected to reach 700 thousand tons this year.
In the first half of the year, 2 thousand tons of grapes and 34.2 thousand tons of raisins were exported. Grapes are grown on 7 thousand hectares in Qo‘shrabot district, yielding 50–55 thousand tons annually, most of which is processed into raisins.
Additionally, the “Qo‘shrabot raisins” trademark was also included in the state register (source: samarqand.uz).
