A new railway network is being constructed in the area of the nuclear power plant (NPP) under construction in Forish district, Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by Abdujamil Kalmuratov, head of the NPP construction directorate, at a press conference held on October 6. According to him, logistics issues are currently being actively resolved.
A portion of the materials and equipment necessary for construction is planned to be delivered specifically by railway. For this purpose, a new railway route has been designed by the "Uzbekistan Railways" joint-stock company.
The new line will be approximately 9 kilometers long. Through this route, heavy equipment important for the NPP, including reactor parts manufactured in Russia, will also be transported.
Additionally, Uzbekistan is currently negotiating with Kazakhstan on the transit of cargo necessary for the NPP through the territory of Kazakhstan. This is of significant importance in forming an international logistics corridor.
Within the framework of the NPP construction, additional contracts are planned to be signed with "Rosatom" by the end of the year. However, the issue of uranium enrichment used in the project has not yet been disclosed to the public and is considered to be "somewhat closed".
