Qanot Sharq airline has submitted an official application to the United States Department of Transportation for flights. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by Kursiv media. The planned flights will operate twice a week between Tashkent and New York City.
If the license is granted, Qanot Sharq will have the opportunity to become the first private airline providing services from Uzbekistan to the USA. According to the Telegram channel “Pik Skatarsis,” the Tashkent—New York route is actively used not only by Uzbeks but also by citizens of other Central Asian countries.
According to the channel’s author, Timurmalik Elmurodov, Uzbekistan has an FAA Category 1 rating. This rating indicates that the airline and aviation sector meet the safety standards set by the USA.
For example, Kazakhstan does not have such a rating, so it does not have direct flights to the USA. Currently, the American government is expected to grant permission for these flights in 2025 or 2026.
