According to the results of the "smart cities" ranking published by Kept Consulting Company in October 2025, Tashkent was included in the group of cities "with development potential." This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The ranking evaluated a total of 15 cities from the CIS and BRICS+ countries. Tashkent scored less than 50 points and could not enter the middle category of the ranking.
In particular, it ranked 14th with 40.4 points in the "smart business and employment" category. The insufficient availability of digital services in this area was identified as a problem.
There are also shortcomings in terms of ecological sustainability. Only 3 square meters of green space per capita is available, and only 2 percent of the city area is greened.
The air pollution index was recorded to be in the range of 101 to 150. Traffic congestion in the city takes a lot of time and this indicator was rated at 10.7 points.
Additionally, there is no open data portal and information on city management is rarely updated. Nevertheless, Tashkent is considered a leader among CIS countries in the spread of electric vehicles.
"Smart lighting" and "smart meter" systems have been implemented in the city area. Furthermore, positive changes are observed in the tourism and hotel infrastructure sectors.
