A video conference meeting was held under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to improve the neighborhood system and effectively organize work in the regions. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the meeting, issues of improving infrastructure in neighborhoods, raising the living standards of the population, and ensuring the sustainable development of the regions were discussed. The head of state emphasized that the neighborhood system is not just an administrative unit but the heart of society, and noted the necessity to develop it in accordance with modern requirements.
According to a recently adopted resolution, 33 districts and 330 neighborhoods in difficult conditions, where the new image of Uzbekistan will be formed, will be identified. Each district will be allocated 100 billion soums, and each neighborhood will receive 5 billion soums.
In addition, 100 million dollars attracted from the World Bank and the Islamic Development Bank will be directed specifically to projects in these areas. Furthermore, an additional 2 trillion soums are planned to be allocated for implementing "driver" projects.
Overall, more than 7 trillion soums will be spent within the program to improve neighborhood life. Clear tasks were assigned to regional and district leaders at the meeting.
Each regional governor will select two neighborhoods in difficult conditions, and district governors will select one each, taking responsibility for their development. As a result of allocating 5 billion soums to the selected neighborhoods, significant changes in the living standards of 236 neighborhoods' residents are expected.
Within the program, special attention will be paid to renewing roads, water, electricity, and communication networks, developing entrepreneurship, and strengthening education and healthcare infrastructure. As President Mirziyoyev emphasized, the neighborhood is the center of reforms, and public approval is the main criterion.
Therefore, this program must have a positive impact on the life of every household, strengthening the population's confidence and sense of renewal. The new initiative is aimed not only at renewing neighborhoods but also at turning them into strong centers economically, socially, and spiritually, and its implementation will bring significant changes to neighborhood life.
