The Tashkent city administration held a presentation of updated plans to create new lane infrastructure aimed at increasing the efficiency of bus traffic in the capital. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within this project, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will be introduced on 10 streets. This information was provided by the city administration's information service.
The total length of the new lanes will be 51 kilometers. In the previous project, this figure was 57.5 kilometers.
Additionally, while KXAY and Parkent streets were included earlier, the updated plan replaces them with Alisher Navoi and Beruniy streets. The main routes where the BRT system will be implemented include Shota Rustaveli (5.1 km), Shahrisabz (3.2 km), Amir Temur (5.7 km), Yangi Sergeli (5.3 km), Makhtumquli (1.3 km), Mirzo Ulugbek – Feruza – Yuzrabot (10.4 km), Lutfiy and Muqimiy (5.9 km), Nurafshon (3.7 km), Qoratosh – Kokcha Gate (4 km), and Alisher Navoi – Beruniy (6 km).
A total of 126 million dollars will be allocated for the implementation of the project. In the previous estimate, this amount was approximately 110 million dollars.
According to experts, the new lane system will significantly increase the speed and reliability of public transport in the capital. It is planned to reduce the main problems in Tashkent — traffic congestion and bus delays.
The BRT system will establish dedicated lanes for buses, introduce an “intelligent” system synchronized with traffic lights, and build stations using modern methods. This will provide convenience, time savings, and safety for passengers.
Moreover, the new system will lead to an increase in the number of passengers and a reduction in the use of private cars. According to ecologists, the project will not only save time but also significantly reduce air pollution.
The Tashkent city administration stated that the project will be implemented gradually. First, engineering communications will be updated based on advanced technology and project documentation, followed by changes to road signs, ensuring pedestrian safety, and creating station infrastructure.
Local experts emphasize that this system will elevate Tashkent's transport system to a new level. In their opinion, once the project is fully operational, the speed of public transport could double.
With the launch of the new BRT routes, the capital's passengers will have the opportunity to use fast, convenient, and environmentally friendly transport services (source: Tashkent city administration information service).
