From January 1, 2024, a new state social insurance system will be launched in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This news was announced by the Ministry of Justice. According to the President's decree No. PF–206, the new system will enable citizens to access social protection services conveniently and promptly.
According to the new regulation, citizens can join the social insurance program in two ways: mandatory or voluntary. Mandatory insurance is carried out as part of the personal income tax of individuals.
Those who wish to join voluntary insurance will pay a monthly contribution equal to 5 percent of the minimum wage. Insurance payments are determined based on citizens' payment history and the funds they have contributed.
Another convenient aspect of the new system is that certain benefits will be assigned automatically. For example, from January 1, 2026, maternity and childbirth benefits, and from July 1, 2024, temporary disability benefits will be paid proactively without requiring any documents.
Starting from 2030, unemployment benefits are also planned to be assigned in this way. Additionally, the amount of benefits will depend on citizens' work experience.
Those with up to 8 years of work experience will receive benefits amounting to 60 percent of their salary, while those with more than 8 years of experience will receive 80 percent. Furthermore, families with four or more children, as well as family members caring for a disabled child, will receive an additional 20 percent increase in benefits.
