Starting from January 1, 2026, payments for the collection and removal of solid household waste in Uzbekistan will be fully transferred to an online system. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This measure will eliminate the practice of collecting cash from households and serve to make the payment system more convenient and transparent. This change also aims to prevent cases of corruption.
According to the Waste Management Agency, the legal basis for this innovation is established in a decree approved by the president in 2024. According to it, waste payments will be made through the "Toza Makon" unified system, electronic services, and bank cash desks.
Additionally, the decree emphasizes that if there is an outstanding debt for waste payments, the ability to pay for electricity will be temporarily restricted. For residents living in remote areas with limited stable internet access, the option to pay through "Uzbekistan Post" and bank cash desks will be maintained.
Representatives of the agency note that from 2026, actions by inspectors demanding cash payments for sanitary services will be considered illegal. The "Toza Makon" billing system will be integrated with the "Regional Electric Networks" database.
Through this, debtors will be automatically identified, and their ability to pay for electricity will be temporarily restricted until the waste payment is fully settled. These changes are aimed at protecting the environment and regulating the economic system.
