Driving while tired or drowsy on the roads poses a serious danger. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Road Traffic Safety Service reported this. Since the beginning of 2025, 237 road traffic accidents have been recorded due to drivers falling asleep at the wheel.
In these incidents, 139 people have died, and 195 citizens have sustained injuries of varying severity. According to experts, driving while fatigued is as dangerous as driving under the influence.
Especially in winter, the warmth inside the car quickly lulls the driver to sleep. As a result, attention decreases and reaction speed slows down.
One of the most dangerous situations is microsleep. This state lasts for several seconds, and the driver does not notice it.
During this time, the vehicle can move tens of meters without control, potentially causing a road traffic accident. Experts emphasize that common "alertness methods" among drivers—such as listening to loud music, opening the window, or chewing gum—only have a temporary effect and cannot eliminate fatigue.
Law enforcement agencies recommend that drivers stop the vehicle and rest for at least 20–30 minutes or, if possible, take a short nap when feeling tired. Coffee or caffeinated drinks can temporarily increase alertness, but they cannot fully replace sleep.
