As part of Procter & Gamble's expansion of operations in Uzbekistan, a new factory is planned to be built in Tashkent city. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Prima, the company's division in Turkey, is investing 20 million USD in a hygienic products manufacturing enterprise within the Tashkent Pharma Park cluster. This agreement was reached during a meeting held on November 1 between company representatives and Abdulla Azizov, the director of the Pharmaceutical Development Agency.
The new factory is intended to produce Pampers baby diapers, wet wipes, and other personal hygiene products. This project will create more than 350 new jobs.
The investment decision was made as a result of ongoing economic reforms in the country, including simplification of product certification procedures and the abolition of the state registration regime. Additionally, the introduction of a conformity declaration practice for products has been implemented, which serves to create a favorable business environment for investors.
This project is part of 32 investment initiatives with a total value of 166 million USD planned by the end of 2025. Overall, the program aims to create 1,500 new jobs, increase production and export volumes, and reduce prices of certain products.
The baby diaper market in the Central Asian region is one of the fastest-growing consumer goods segments. This situation is explained by the high birth rates in the area.
